MediHome is now working with Primary
Care Trusts to provide an acute nursing service that provides an
alternative to a hospital admission for patients who require a
more intensive nursing package than provided by District Nurses
and Community Matrons but do not require the full range of
services provided in an acute hospital.
Patients are referred by community
matrons, GPs and staff in A&E departments allowing patients to
remain at home while their condition is monitored, pathology
samples taken and medication delivered (intravenously if
necessary). Most diagnostic procedures can be delivered at
home, but if required MediHome will provide an escort to an
outpatient appointment for an X ray or ultrasound scan
MediHome also provides a home
based alternative to repeated hospital attendance for chemotherapy
patients (following their initial courses of treatment when
hospital attendance is advised). MediHome Nurses deliver the
intravenous therapies and support patients with the side effects
sparing them further hospitals visits.
