Kings College Hospital and MediHome Early Discharge Pilot

King’s College Hospital Foundation NHS Trust (KCH) commissioned a small-scale community intra-venous antibiotic therapy service from MediHome. In Dec 2010, the service was expanded across the trust. It was open to all patient types and departments. The service was piloted over four months to help evaluate the impact of an enlarged community service commissioned by KCH. If the pilot was successful it was the intention of KCH to put the service out to tender.

One clinician who uses the service said, “The MediHome service for patients who have come to our Diabetic Foot Clinic is absolutely fantastic – it not only helps us avoid having to admit the patient when we have no available beds it also means our clinic and ward staff are able to arrange early discharges into the patients home leading to a greater satisfaction in the care provided. But best of all, MediHome is helping us prevent avoidable amputations which make an immeasurable difference to the patient and their quality of life”.

Dr Mark Lomax, Managing Director at MediHome said, “We’re delighted to have this opportunity to work closely and in partnership with KCH. We believe this model of care is right for patients and if used more widely will help the NHS meet the financial challenges ahead.”

CQC Compliance

The CQC has confirmed, following an unannounced inspection on 29th June 2011, that MediHome is meeting all the essential standards of quality and safety.
They report that ‘people who use the service were positive about the service and the ability of the staff’.

Following an audit conducted on 29th June 2011, the external audit team recommended that, based on the results of the audit and the demonstrated state of development and maturity of management systems, MediHome was certified as being ISO 9001:2008 – Quality Management System Certification compliant.

MediHome appoints Alison Rivett as Head of Business Development

MediHome Ltd has appointed Alison Rivett as Head of Business Development. Alison’s role will focus on expanding MediHome’s business through new contracts and services and expanding our existing contracts, as well as working with GPs and other health professionals as the future commissioners of healthcare across England.
Alison brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of private healthcare and the NHS to MediHome. A nurse by background, Alison has held senior management positions in a large teaching trust and is currently Clinical Services Development Director for a major private clinical service provider. Alison has an outstanding reputation for securing and delivering new services within the healthcare sector.

MediHome launched its new website today.

Mark Lomax, Managing Director said ” we are enormously proud of our new website which gives high quality, up-to-date information to healthcare managers and patients about our services.”

Shelley Dowd, HR Director said “nurses, physiotherapists and others applying for jobs with us can now do so following our easy to navigate on line application. Potential applicants can also register for future vacancies and information about MediHome. We are very pleased with the new look and content of the website and hope that visitors will find it informative and easy to use.”

Dame Christine Beasley opens new MediHome office

Dame Christine Beasley, Chief Nursing Officer for England officially opened the new MediHome office in Slough. This recent move was as a result of continued successful growth delivering acute home healthcare services and the need to have more space in order to continue to improve and develop services for all our valued patients and customers.

The day was a great success! After learning more about what it is we deliver and the standards we work to, Dame Christine spent some time listening to what it is like on the front line by talking to a selection of staff and a very generous Mrs V, a patient from King’s College Hospital who agreed to come along too!

After cutting the obligatory ribbon, Dame Christine said how hugely impressed she was with the quality of care MediHome deliver and that she wished us every success in the future.
