Acute home healthcare following an emergency admission
The reasons for an emergency admission include emergency surgery or a sudden illness such as an infection. The services we provide for patients following an emergency admission are essentially the same as those for patients who have had a planned operation.
Once stable and after the most acute stage of the illness, many patients are on a clear path to recovery and will recover faster and in more comfort at home rather than in hospital.
An assessment of whether the patient's home circumstances are suitable for acute home healthcare can only be undertaken after the admission to hospital. That may lead to a slight delay in the transfer home while appropriate checks are made and any preparations (such as the provision of special equipment) are arranged.
The care I received at home was fantastic. The nurses from MediHome were very organised and friendly and they really put me at ease.
