Hospital admission
We work closely with Primary Care Trusts and GP Consortia to provide an acute home nursing and physiotherapist service as an alternative to hospital admission. This is often suitable for patients who do not need the full range of services provided in an acute hospital, but do require a more intensive care package than that typically provided by district nurses and community matrons.
These patients can be referred by community matrons, GPs and staff in A&E departments, enabling them to remain at home while their condition is monitored, pathology samples taken and medication administered (intravenously if necessary). Most diagnostic procedures can be carried out at home, but if required, we will provide an escort to an outpatient appointment for an X ray or ultrasound scan.
We also provide a home-based alternative to repeated hospital attendance for chemotherapy patients, following their initial courses of hospital treatment. Our nurses administer the intravenous therapies and provide support for side effects, sparing them further hospitals visits.
I am really pleased with the service MediHome provided. Staying in hospital for long periods of time is not nice.
