Job Summary:

Responsible to:     Director of Nursing & Operations
 

Accountable to:    MediHome Directors

 

Salary:                     £35,000 - £40,000 per annum

 

Provide effective clinical and managerial leadership to clinical (nursing and AHPs) and support staff ensuring the effective delivery at all times of high quality nursing care and responding to changes in patient needs and service level requirements as appropriate.

Ensure that care delivery within the team meets with the appropriate professional codes, i.e. NMC and HPC, and standards and is in line with MediHome's vision and clinical standards.

Facilitate effective communications with all disciplines, at all levels within hospitals and within MediHome Ltd.

Contribute to the general management of MediHome through membership to both clinical and business teams.

Assist in the development of future projects on behalf of MediHome Ltd.

Contribute to raising the profile of MediHome and thereby developing new business for MediHome.

Participate in on-call duties

 

Principal Accountabilities:

Assess, co-ordinate, plan, implement and evaluate the clinical care of patients

Demonstrate a pro-active, creative and problem solving approach to the planning and organisation of the service in conjunction with the Nursing Director and other MediHome directors and senior managers

Ensure that nursing documentation is maintained to MediHome's standards and implement audits of records to measure and evaluate all aspects of clinical care

Promote and maintain positive working relationships with medical staff and within the nursing team to ensure positive outcomes for each patient episode

Ensure that all material and human resources within MediHome are utilised effectively to deliver quality care at all times including effective utilisation of duty rotas in planning staffing to meet the demands of the service

Co-ordinate and facilitate an effective individual performance review programme for nursing and support staff

Ensure staff absence/sickness and leave is monitored and managed according to MediHome policies

Communicate, establish and maintain relationships, manage conflict and obstacles to change

Participate in the process of the recruitment and selection of staff

Ensure that all new staff have appropriate induction and orientation

Work collaboratively with MediHome senior management to identify priorities and educational needs for the clinical area, to facilitate staff participation in mandatory training, relevant study days, etc.

Develop a management style that promotes a working environment based on openness and honesty

Be personally responsible for own actions

Adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Practice at all times.

Ensure that confidential information is not disclosed about MediHome Ltd, including information about staff and patients, to any unauthorised member of staff, or to anyone outside the employment of MediHome who is not authorised to such information.
