Mrs X had a
Mastectomy following breast cancer diagnosis. With significant
pain and nausea following the operation and a surgical drain at
the wound site, she was discharged into MediHome’s care on the day
following her surgery.
Medihome provided
regular nursing and home care assistant visits and daily reports
to the consultant.
The drain was
removed on day three at the consultant’s request, then slight
reddening of the wound site was noticed on day four. Digital
images of the wound were uploaded to the Medihome electronic
patient record system so that the consultant could view them and
provide an opinion, a
swab was taken by MediHome and delivered to the hospital for
analysis. The wound settled down without intervention and MediHome
care ended, as planned, on day five.
